Meet our Youth Board DIrector

And last but not least…

Introducing our Youth Board Director, Khamall Jahi!

We’re lucky to work with such a dedicated and knowledgeable person who really understands us. Director Jahi is an inviting guide who leads from a space of service and care. We’re continually inspired by his energy and passion for making the world a better place for all of us!

About Youth Board

We, The Collective’s FIRST Youth Board, have been assembled to advise and guide our support team’s work while learning what it takes to create change together. We’ve been truly inspired by each other’s dedication, curiosity, compassion and fire!

Each one of us went through a highly selective process to be a part of this board. From application and interviews to acceptance and action, we’ve been chosen for our diverse and thoughtful points of view, intrepid curiosity and interest in civic engagement, commitment to service and mentorship, and determination to make change happen where it matters to us and our community. *double check language with youth board how they would talk about themselves – including order ; ADD marrying the work – why the Youth Board is here – is part of how we are closing the gap

It’s energizing to be formative leaders in an organization that puts US, boys and young men of color, first! The Collective deeply cares about what we have to say and where we want to go, and will support us in any way possible.

We started meeting twice a month in September 2023 and will continue to meet through May 2024. We’ve learned so much already and are high-key invested in what comes next!

Our 2023 meetings focused on the basics of advocacy and civic engagement, building community and camaraderie, defining personal narratives, values and belief systems, and the importance of self-care. In 2024, we’re looking forward to speaking directly with Columbus City Council members and other community leaders as we continue to work with Director Jahi.
